Home Cleaning Tips For Pet Owners

Owning a pet is like having a small child at home. No matter how many times you remove those urine stains, no matter how much time and energy you waste on keeping the house clean and organized, your cute little furry friend always finds a way to mess it up.

Pet owners are pretty indulgent when it comes to their pets; they ignore bad habits and generally neglect hygiene and cleanliness. As you already know, we at Broomberg are pretty OCD about cleanliness. So read on in case you are a proud pet owner, we have compiled some cleaning tips for pet owners.

Pet Hair

Are you annoyed to find pet hair all over your sofa and carpet? These pesky little things can be found anywhere and everywhere if you own a pet. One way to stop your pet from shedding hair all over the house is to regularly brush your pet’s fur. This way most of the loose hair ends up in the dustbin instead. Use a damp rubber gloves or sponge to pick up hair; you will be surprised how the glove or sponge attracts hair like a magnet. You can also use an electrostatic or microfiber dry mop to clean up. Do not use a vacuum cleaner as the hair may end up clogging the motor.

Stain and odor removal

It’s important to clean and deodorize stool or urine stains. Such stains eventually fade away but the germs remain and can cause health issues.  You can clean up such spots by using some homemade cleaning products.

Vinegar + Baking Soda spray

Vinegar is nature’s miracle cleaning agent. It can remove almost every type of stain from any surface. Baking soda is a natural deodorant. Take equal proportions of white vinegar and water and add 4 spoons of baking soda to it. Fill this solution in a spray bottle. Now spray on the stained surface and rub with a piece of clean cloth.

 Hydrogen Peroxide + Baking Soda

Cover the stain with a cloth and sprinkle a handful of baking powder over it. Now mix half cup hydrogen peroxide and one table spoon of dishwashing liquid and pour it over the cloth. Leave this for 15-20 minutes. Now scrub the stain slowly and later vacuum the surface thoroughly.

 Citrus Enzyme Cleaner

It’s not as scary as it sounds. This is a simple mixture of lemon and orange peel.

You will have to mix:

-7 tablespoons of brown sugar
-1 ½ cups of lemon and orange peels/scraps
-1 liter water

Fill this mixture in a clear container which is not air tight and keep it away. After 3 months, you will have your home made natural stain cleaner.

In case these methods fail to remove the stain and odor you should get in touch with professional cleaners. We at Broomberg will be happy to consult with you on how best to remove the offender.

Generally pets love to lick surfaces in the house. Using toxic disinfectants or cleaners can be hazardous for your pet. If you are a pet lover keep spreading the love. Don’t forget to Share, Like and Comment below.
